Want an easy getaway? Here's how to plan a staycation in Park City, Utah and all the adventurous things to doA few weeks ago we went on a staycation in Park City, Utah and it was one we’ll always remember. I’m giving you some tips on what to do up in the beautiful Wasatch Mountains and what to bring when you’re still close to home.

Park City is about a 30 minute drive from my house but I always feel like I’m in a different state when I go here. Park City is the perfect staycation for anyone living near Salt Lake City.

When we travel to Park City, one of the things I have to prepare the most for is snacks. Four kids always equals hungry kids so I have to find a way to do it without breaking the bank. Park City has some delicious food but it can also get expensive if you don’t plan ahead.Want an easy getaway? • Staying somewhere you feel comfortable is just as important as choosing the location you’re going to visit. We stayed at the Marriott Vacation Club right near the Alpine Slide. They had a lot of activities for the kids to keep them busy when we just wanted a rest. They have an on-site movie theater and scheduled activities throughout the day.
  • Airbnb is also a great resource. You’re bound to stay in a more traditional mountain home when you choose this option but you’re going to have to bring your own entertainment.
  • Mountain Resorts are also great because they are close to ski-lifts and have beautiful scenery. If you’re staying there for the skiing, I would definitely recommend staying in a ski resort.

  • Visit Olympic Park. It has great options for older kids and adults do a whole bunch of thrill seeking activities. The zip lines are great because you just sit in a chair, the obstacles are challenging but also a lot of fun to be able to push yourself.
  • Bobsled at the Olympic Park. This is an additional $25 to a day pass but well worth it. It lasts about a minute but you’ve never felt such force in your life.
  • Park City Mountain is also a lot of fun. This was just at the base of our hotel room and we were able to get day passes, go sleep for a bit and come back at night. The alpine coaster had a really long wait but it was well worth it. The alpine slide is always a classic as well. This park is best for kids 7 and younger. It gives them the opportunity to experience some of the same things at the Olympic Park but without the scare.
  • Visit Main Street. Our hotel was about a mile walk to Main Street and I thought my kids had never walked a mile in their life! They have scavenger hunts you can explore, there are many restaurants that are on either end of the casual to fancy spectrum. It’s just a lot of fun to be a part of history.

  • I like to stay in resorts that have a washer and dryer in the unit so I’m not filling my suitcase with unnecessary clothing. I like to pack about 3 outfits each and just keep them on rotation. It makes me feel better that I’m not going to have 5 loads of laundry to do when I get home.
  • Snacks and lots of them. I like to give my kids a variety of different proteins and carbs to help fuel them throughout the day. My favorite are these RITZ Filled Sandwich Crackers that I picked up at my local Kroger banner store, Smiths Food. They’re available in Peanut Butter and Cheese flavors. I also like to pack things that are prepackaged into manageable serving sizes. This makes it easier to take on-the-go and saves a lot of time.
  • Sunscreen!!!! I burnt up like a lobster and I can’t stress this enough. Park City has a different ability to make the sun 10x worse than anything I’ve ever experienced.Want an easy getaway? Here's how to plan a staycation in Park City, Utah and all the adventurous things to do
