Meatless Monte Cristo Sandwich – A Disney Copycat Recipe

Ingredients

Other Ingredients

  • blackberry preserves
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 3 cups canola oil

Sandwich

  • slices, brioche bread
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 2 slices, double-cream brie cheese
  • 2 slices, swiss cheese
  • 2 slices, fresh mozzarella

Batter

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your Canola oil to 350* in a frying pan.
  2. Spread the dijon mustard on the brioche bread, place a slice of swiss cheese on each slice of bread. Place the brie cheese and mozzarella on one side of the sandwich and sandwich the two slices together. Cut into a diagonal half.
  3. Place each half into the batter and coat well. Carefully place them into the oil and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove from the pan onto paper towels to soak up the excess oil. Cut each half in half again and dust with powdered sugar. Serve along side black berry preserves.
