They’ve endured a lot these last 12 months from a pregnant mom and a sick baby brother, they deserve to have some fun time with me but it’s really just a ploy to get them to help me out. Making time for mom and summer nail polish trendsI’ve compiled some summer trends in nail polish because we need to look good when we don’t feel good. I ‘suckered’ Siaki and Leila into polishing my nails while I just sat by and ate OREO Thins and life was good for ten-minutes again.img_1099We headed over to our Kroger banner store, Smith’s and grabbed the polish and OREO’s in one visit, that’s why I love shopping at Smith’s. Malakai was in his saucer toy – being content – and although it was just a moment, it was a good moment and I’ll cherish that I got to spend it with my three youngest children.Making time for mom and summer nail polish trendsNow on to color trends…pastel everything is in. I love the mix of the muted pinks and purples but my favorite is the mint color of nail polish that’s been popping up everywhere. You also can’t go wrong with metallic but copper and rose gold are the new black and gold. Go out of your comfort zone, get ones that you normally wouldn’t try and give yourself an update. You never know which one of the new ones you’ll love. Making time for mom and summer nail polish trendsAdd some glitter to your routine and make the sheen different. My favorite combo is matte and the muted lavender color. OREO Thins are available in more flavors than ever so check them out at www.oreo.com/thins and tell me which one is your favorite, I love mint. Easy snacking ideas for kids and their parents who are trying to eat right

I have had a really hard time making the most balanced choices since delivering my baby in September. I have gained more weight afterwards than I ever did during the pregnancy. I am in need of getting back ontrack.

Before I got pregnant, I had signed up to do a half marathon and began training for that. With my Fibromyalgia, it made it hard but doable. Now that I have the baby in tow, things have begun to get harder to accomplish and so I need easy but I also need to set a good example to my other kids. I came up with this “snack hack” knowing that I’d eat it and my kids would as well. I didn’t want it to feel like the prepackaged meals that are so popular, I wanted them to know that it came from home and the wholesome areas of the store.Easy snacking ideas for kids and their parents who are trying to eat rightWhen they’re eating these snacks, it’s almost a full meal to them depending on how much they decide to eat but it’s fulfilling to them and most of all, they love to pair it with their Capri Sun Organic. They are so simple to put together. Just take a slice of turkey, a half slice of cheddar cheese and 2-3 wedges of Granny Smith apples. Just wrap it around itself and serve.

When I’m looking for choices to feed my children along with myself, I look for something that is better-for-you in the long run. I look forward now to eating snacks like this because of the simplicity and ease it is for me and my new busy life. I have long doubted myself why I don’t just get up and move/exercise,making better choices has effected my mood and made me motivated to start moving again. You can do it too!Easy snacking ideas for kids and their parents who are trying to eat right

Create a successful Perennial Garden using the old with the new. #OutshineSnacks #ad

I live in a HOA Community and when we first moved here 8 years ago, I felt that I couldn’t do much with the space I was allotted. We had our backyard that we did stamped concrete throughout because it’s only a pad 12×18′. The small patch of actual digging space I have in the front is 2×6′.

The main things you want because of the small space or really any space is the right tools. I used this handheld hoe and removed any old flowers, sparse grass and weeds. You’ll want to make sure and remove the entire root for effectiveness. If you pull it, you will most likely end up with the root still in the ground and just be right back where you were a few months prior. Get yourself some gloves, a sturdy shovel and some good soil while you’re picking out your plants and it’ll save you a lot of headache.

When I start planting, I start in a container and allow it to grow over the summer. By fall, they’ll be sturdy enough to transfer and still make an impact the next year. I love Perennials all for this point. I live in Utah so I live in group 7 so each time I go to the flower market, I will make sure that it’ll be suitable for Utah’s crazy weather. I also look for ones that will be sustainable if I don’t water them everyday. Watering flowers is my nemesis. I enjoy when it rains but April in Utah is a bit too early. Mothers Day weekend is always a perfect time to plant so that you won’t have to worry about any frost.

Another essential is to stay hydrated! I always try to have my kids help me but it can be more time-consuming so I keep a bottle of water for me and some *NEW* Outshine Simply Yogurt Bars available at Walmart. They also have several other varieties that I enjoy. My most favorite are the Raspberry Fruit Bars.

Sitting On the Sidelines In Sports

May 11, 2015

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #SidelineHero #CollectiveBias

During the Summer, I swear I have no spare time. I’m always away at sports or practice of some kind. I’m sure many of you also have these same problems too, but what do you do when you’ve got some in the game and some on the sidelines?

Sitting on the Sidelines It can be a little troublesome trying to take care of others while you want to cheer on your other champion, so I created some simple and waaaaay easy snack ideas for the other POWERADE® sideline hero.

Making Healthy Snacks for Kids

I put together this Bento Box full of fruit, goldfish and some cheese, meats and crackers. We try to keep our sports events sugar-free but we’re not always the best at that. When we don’t prepare, that’s when we get in trouble. I like to keep certain things on hand always so that when it’s time to go, we can prepare our meals and head out. Here are some of those essentials:

  • Meat and Cheese
  • Crackers
  • Apples, Grapes, Bananas
  • Chips
  • Cookies for a treat
  • Ziploc bags or storage containers
  • Collapsible Cooler
  • Cooler boxes kept in the freezer

Powerade and Soccer

POWERADE® is also another essential I keep on hand. I do because, POWERADE® is formulated with Vitamins B3, B6, & B12 to support energy metabolism, and a 6% carbohydrate solution to help provide energy to working muscles. I want to help my kids get the energy they need to be able to sustain the game and hanging out, waiting for the game to finish.

Staying Hydrated in Youth Sports

So now is the best time to go stock up on POWERADE® and some fresh fruit when you grab a $1 off coupon off specially marked packages of  the POWERADE® 12-pack 12 oz packages and Walmart fresh produce. Make sure you’re also following POWERADE® on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
