So remember a while ago when I hung my stockings from this board? I showed you on that post how I put together the board and the wire. Now I’ve taken that same wire, some of my favorite photos and this string of lights from Paper Source, to display my photos in an easy way, and a pretty cute way too.
I ran to Walmart and grabbed these new Energizer ecoAdvanced AA batteries and these Twinkle Lights from Paper Source. I only needed 3 and I was set. My original idea was to do a firefly jar, however, the box from the light wouldn’t fit in the mouth of the jar. I really like how this ended up looking and it seems like more of an original idea.
For the pictures, I took some favorite washi tapes of mine and just wrapped it around the photo and the wire for it to hang. So simple, yet so efficient to share our memories of family near and far. The picture with my husband in the red shirt I love. My oldest is 3-4 and he’s peed his pants but he’s just smiling for his aunt, happy as a clam.
What I love about these lights is that they are so bright and I know that they’ll last because of the new technology of the Energizer ecoAdvanced AA batteries. Some things that you should know is that it’s the very first battery on the market that has reused material, they are also available in AAA and its Energizers newest product. For the last two years I started going to a local event calling the Spooky Spark Soiree. It was my first time really stepping into the blogging world and connecting with others. I met some really wonderful woman there that I still have friendships with. It has also shown me to really open my mind creatively. If you’ve never heard of any Spark Events, you need to follow Margie on Instagram NOW! She can take anything that you’d thing was garbage or flat-out ugly and make it amazing!
Last year at Spooky Spark, we made these fun Halloween calendars that were almost countdown like or just use them to change the date. I think they are perpetual calendars but whatevs, I’m not going to be fancy here. We took a simply Tolsby frame from Ikea, a dollar store deck of flash cards and some binders rings and created this with all our leftover scrapbook paper. I love the way it looks on my mantle that I’m going to be sharing with you all soon!
Check out what I’ve done each day below and I hope it inspires you to make your own. Margie is also offering the last two Halloween/Falls for 50% off and she always offers Early Bird to her videos. She walks you through the craft and will send you a shopping list and everything. Totally worth every penny!
Local Utah peeps, who doesn’t love Ikea? Seriously, you can go in there and find anything and everything you can imagine. Also, who doesn’t love a deal. I’m the queen of a good deal and a good quality. I’ll admit it, my husband frugalness is rubbing off on me. In ways that’s a good thing, in ways it’s not cause it’s holding me back from getting things that I really want. It’s making me ask that question…Do I really need this in my life??? That is the most horrible question I’ve ever asked myself. I feel like I’m about to burst into tears right now typing it. I just got the chills.
Every time I have been in Ikea, I have never had to ask myself that question. I feel so alive, I feel like Maria and I can spin on the mountain tops for hours, literally hours cause Ikea is so huge. We had an opportunity to go there a few weeks ago as bloggers for their catalog launch and we got to bring our kids…this was before my doctor prescribed me Xanax, I really needed it that morning. My kids were beating each other up, they were running around crazy, all to make a great impression on people I admire. That was when it was time to take them to the Ikea Smalland and with your FAMILY PASS you can get 90 minutes uninterrupted shopping!
You’re also going to need that FAMILY PASS this coming Weekend for a killer sale that Ikea is having at their Draper location. Read all the deets below and make sure you’re there. Also, I cannot stress enough to come to the live AS-IS auction! You name the price on the available boxed items. You can’t get a better deal on that! I really wish that I was in town for this, It’d really leave me feeling guilt free. I decided though, that I’ll join with the Mom it Forward Bloggers in Orlando and leave you guys with as much loot as possible and get it while it’s hot! Good Luck and may the Ikea Force be with you.

So, your kids are headed back to school. You’re either jumping for joy or you just couldn’t get enough of them. Me, I’m in the jumping category. They were lots of fun and we did fun things but they’re bored and can’t wait to get back to seeing their friends who don’t live super close to us and interacting with their teachers. I’ve joined into the series with for The Joy of Boys Summer of Survival for Moms of Boys and those really came in handy. My assignment was ways that I can prepare my kids to return back to school. I decided why not celebrate the end of summer with a fun table with printable from The Caravan Shoppe!
I blew up this print to be 36″x48″ and I needed two of them to cover the entirety of my table. One thing I do love about my West Elm table that I paid for is this glass top. I went to my local windshield repair place and gave them the measurements. It took about a week but it helps keep the wood looking pristine and no water marks. I can paint on my table and it just wipes right up off the glass. It’s the best investment ever!
Another thing I love from Caravan Shoppe are these FREEProper Placement Placemats. They come in six different styles and are a great way for kids to learn to set the table.
Another element to add is just something playful and fun to the center of your table. Non edible things can be the funnest to go with your theme. Maybe get a higher pitcher and add some rulers, what an afterthought, lol!
My favorite part of the whole printable package were these framed draw your self. I printed these 4 to a page so I could put them in a frame to use them as place settings. I used Hazel and Ruby Stencil Masks on the back using their first initial. This Back to School printable pack also comes with a really awesome questionnaire about how their summer was and what they are looking forward to the most this coming year and the rest of their life. It also has more place-mats that are colored or black and white that the kids can color on their own as well as some really outstanding lunch notes. I can’t thank Alma and her team enough for providing me the samples to be able to create this fun tablescape. Be sure to check out their site! I am always in awe of what they have to offer. They have much more free and paid printables that are to die for! I printed the larger prints just at my local Alphagraphics cause they were the closest to me. Caravan has recommended Staples as well for them. Whatever is easiest for you. I’m happy with the quality of mine.
Also, Alma is a teacher on Atly.com. She walks you through Illustrator and shows you how you can create your own fun printable as well. You can also get her personal feedback.
